Rally Time
No, I'm not talking about cars. Wednesday, August 30, Rocky Anderson is planning a rally to protest American policies. It is prompted by President Bush's visit to Salt Lake City this week. It will be held at Washington Square from 11:00-2:00, and I will be there. If anyone is interested in going with me, please let me know.

I think they should have a "Royal Rumble" for the protesters. Everyone can go to some field or something at 3:00 and get their feelings out.
The one thing I can't stand about protesters (in general) is how some feel like they can hold a sign or yell anything they want - no matter how offensive - and not be held accountable for it. I'm sure there will be clowns on both sides during the Presidents visit - signs saying "Democrats Kill Innocent people" and "Republicans Kill Innocent people" and what not.
A royal rumble would be perfect.
It is interesting that when people are intentionally being insulting, offensive, confrontational, or otherwise making an ass of themselves then free speech is the banner they run, and it is excused. On the other hand, when someone is trying to exercise their own free speech in a public setting, especially if it's a state sanctioned event, and that person is espousing a religious view the ACLU attacks them with lawsuits. Seperation of church and state, blah blah blah. That's not what the founders intended.
On the whole Rocky thing... I protest everything Rocky Anderson does, so I will be protesting at my house. Come if you want. We'll have chili con queso. Talk about someone using the Democratic banner to be an anti-conservative grandstander. He uses his office to grandstand more than any person in local politics. You can be Democrat without being anti-anyone. And, before you think I'm attacking him cuz he's a Dem, know that I'm not a Republican.
I don't really mind when people speak their minds, I just mind when people are intentionally offensive in order to get attention.
I have a constitutional right to walk up to someone and call them whatever I want, but I don't. It has nothing to do with rights, it has to do with decency.
It too bad many good things that Rocky has done are overshadowed by crazy stuff like this.
I'm against piqueting... I just don't know how to show it... I had to go to the courthouse today, I saw the whole ordeal going on, quite a hullabaloo there everyone blowing a lot of hot air and cope EVERYWHERE.
