That's an interesting quote. I'm trying to think through how I feel about it. While it's true that we are all imperfect and therefore have a tendency to fall short of the expectations other people have of us, I don't know if I'd be any happier being less dependent on those people. I like being dependent on my wife for example.
I agree that your happiness shouldnt rely on another person or you will enivitably be unhappy. Or disappointed. But the way I took the quote was if the less expectations you have of other people the happier you will be. And the less you need to tell people your problems and expect them to be there for you.
