Toyota FJ Cruiser

So a lot of this is only cool to me but I'll say this anyway. The new cruiser is growing on me. There are hard core old school fj40 owners who disagree that the new FJ Cruiser is a modern version of the original, but to me it is every bit as capable, if not more than the original Land Cruiser. The FJ features a-trac traction control which measures the speed of each wheel more than 1 million times per second. If any wheel is not spinning equally with the rest(meaning it is stuck and not turning) it automatically directs more power to this wheel in fractions of a section. This basically gives the FJ full lockers(if that doesn't do it though it also is available with a locking rear differential.
There are also rumors that toyota is working on a special edition version which will be available in colors similar to the original. Toyota is also paying a company called TLC Restorations to make a soft top, solid axle version. This leads to speculation that Toyota will one day make a production model with a soft top and solid front axle. Would I trade my current cruiser for an FJ? not yet but maybe one day. Would I trade the Subaru for an FJ? That's up to Toni(Ok she's probably tired of that joke). Ok you're probably all bored of this post by now

The more that I see them the more I long to own one. I saw the Sunburst Yellow one and it reminded me of the mustard colored ones of old. I really want one bad. They are pretty sweet I guess.

If you want to see it in action, and this is for anyone, go to www.toyota.com. They have a video of it going through the rubicon, no sweat!

I like them, but I don't really like that blue color. I don't think I've seen a yellow one...

I don't know much about the old FJ's, but I imagine I would like a "retro" color like rather than the bright colors. Maybe a forest green....

I don't remember seeing a forest green one, but yeah I think that could look pretty cool. I agree that if this is a semi reproduction vehicle, they may as well make it in the reproduction colors. With forest green.

I love the new Land Cruisers. I was just talkin to Numnuts about how few cars out there look "designed," and how the new Cruisers look designed (a big plus in my book). Like someone actually cared about the lines, angles, and aesthetics of the thing. Whether you love them or hate them, the VW bug is very uniquely designed, and so is the Honda Element. I love that the new Land Cruisers actually look designed. For the opposite of "designed" look at the new Mitsubishi Lancer, or Ford Crown Victoria. Talk about bland. The engineers must have designed those.

Well I just checked the website, and this is what is available for colors:

- Titanium Metallic (probably my favorite)

- Black Diamond (also very nice)

- Sun Fusion (yellow - not bad at all)

- Voodoo Blue (How can a tough vehicle have a color "voodoo")

- Black Cherry Pearl (nice as well)

No greens at all.

Now that you mentioned a forest green, I like the idea. I think that it would look really good. A nice contrast with the white roof. I like the thought, so here's to hoping. (fingers crossed)
