You guys should read this article...I couldn't find the text of it online...but it's thought provoking. I have heard it criticized because Jimmy Carter was pretty bad too... But still...a great read.
I think thats funny when people bring up things like.. Carter did it too or Carter was worse. So what? how does that make the current president or anyone else better? I love the defense of Clinton did it too or whatever. Im rambling and its too late to put my real thoughts into words.
I totally can agree with what you are saying my good friend. I think that if Clinton lied too, then why doesn't the same fate bestow our great President now. Clinton just had sex, the only thing that hurt was a lot of ego's. Bush lies about WMD's and it gets our young men, brothers, and fathers killed. It's not a matter of what others did though, it's a matter of what some jackass is doing now.
The other thing I can't stand is when people defend it with the remark: "Well he was the best we had to choose from." If that is the best we have to choose from then this country is a lost cause. Maybe we could move for socialist reform? Anyways, back to my point. How can we say as Americans that he is the best we had to chose from. Mudslinging, and political speeches aside for a minute, and let me ask a question. Did Kerry get the chance to prove himself? Did Nader also get the same chance to be President for a day? Then how can any of us say that he was the best we had to chose from, if the other candidates are slandered before they even take the stage? Sorry this is so long, you just got me going on a rant. Great thoughts from you both.
I think Conformity hit the nail on the head with me. I am just so sick of anyone defending either side of the issue on who is worse, who did what when, and blah blah blah. I can tell you the world hated our government long before Clinton and Bush. Both of the things they have done, and are doing harms the credibility of that office. Integrity is integrity, ANYWAY you slice it. I know MANY people who would not commit aldultery, or lie on the job. Why oh why can't we get ONE man like that in the highest office in the world?
I was not saying or pointing fingers at what is worse. I was simply stating that Clinton had sex on the Oval Office, and Bush just signed the death warrant for thousands of Americans because he needed to get more money. Now, what Clinton did was morally wrong! No question there. But apparently what Bush did is not. Is it not immoral to send people off to fight, and die because and I quote, "They tried to kill my father..." Would you send troops off to die for something that you were not willing to take part in? I'm talking about his outstanding service record. That is the facts.
I just think that most people when asked, "Why don't you like Clinton?" come with the same response, "He was immoral!" Yes I agree with that answer, but at the same time no one ever looks at the good that he did. He, as President, repaid our national debt by trillions of dollars. (By the way, Bush spent that in the first 3 months in office.) Jobs were on the rise, he had an adament stand on gun control,(you will never abolish them, but he had a great stand for a Dem.), he had several acts on behalf of the Environment, and anyone that can keep Iraq as an ally after the Gulf War, just amazing. To me the good outways the bad. Yeah he had sex, what is new? Presidents have been having sex with mistresses for years. JFK had sex with Marilyn Monroe in the Oval Office as well, but that is overlooked and he's America's golden boy. Everyone in the office has done something that has been morally reprehensible. We just have to ask, Does the good outweigh the bad?
I guess my original point before all this got started was 2 wrongs dont make a right. That being said I still agree with Aaron. I dont think that Clinton having an affair is acceptable at all. But..When he was president gas was 80 cents a gallon, jobs were everywhere, the environment was good, crime went down five years in a row as well as abortion, we weren't invading other countries, and the economy was good. which would you rather have

The main problem with Clinton is this:
Monica Lewinsky is UGLY.
If it has been someone like Maryln Monroe, it would have been OK.
But Marilyn Monroe was a size 10 or 12, I forget. So she was husky. Ha ha ha

Thanks Numchuks. I appreciate the feedback. Wether he was moral or not, we have to look at the bigger picture.
Really I would just like all that gave feedback. Nough said.
