Immigration Boycott

I have never weighed in on the immigration debate in any circles. I just plain don't know what to think. There are compelling arguments on both sides, and either decision would be monumental.

However, recent headlines suggest that the boycott called by the hispanic (and otherwise immigrant) population is being felt by businesses. This is the first concrete evidence we have that shows their worth and in this country and power to influence the economy. Don't be mistaken; I personally wasn't questioning their worth before. I just think that after all this, maybe it's true that we couldn't go without them if they were to be extradited.

Another thought: How much of this movement is motivated by prejudice? Is the push to remove illegal immigrants just another way of discriminating against other races?

I have to agree with you. When I take a really good look at it and weigh it out I realize that, although not purposely, I have been guilty of being somewhat racist. I have never questioned their worth but stating it simply I dont like freeloaders. I'm paying for a lot of things they recieve. Having lived in another country I tried really hard to respect local customs and traditions and that is something I don't always see.

I have no problem with immigrants living in our country. I really think that a lot of them are here to try to make a better life for them and their families. But the thing of this is, if you come here you better be an American, and nothing else. I don't go to any country and push American values and our way of life on them. But to be a true American you need to go through the same steps that all of our ancestors did, and thousands of immigrants before them.
I do Agree that if we deported all of them our economy would fall on hard times. Great post. I have weighed in on this before so nough from me.
