Not so easy!
So Ton Loc told me about these little quotes that you can get everyday. Here's the one for today...
"The standard is clear. If something we think, see, hear, or do
distances us from the Holy Ghost, then we should stop thinking, seeing,
hearing, or doing that thing. If that which is intended to entertain, for
example, alienates us from the Holy Spirit, then certainly that type of
entertainment is not for us. Because the Spirit cannot abide that which is
vulgar, crude, or immodest, then clearly such things are not for us.
Because we estrange the Spirit of the Lord when we engage in activities we
know we should shun, then such things definitely are not for
us."

Although this is pretty cut and dry, it's not always the easiest choice to make. It's sometimes discouraging to see where you want to be and know that you are really far from that point. This was a good reminder for me!

It is blunt and cut and dry but isnt that the way it should be? So many people pick which rules the prophet gives us to follow... I will pay my tithing but watch compramising shows on television. I will go to chuch every Sunday but look at girls or listen to ronchy music. I will act like a good active member but watch rated R movies. I think it should be cut and dry.. DO or DONT
We have to remember though that no one holds true to even their own standards all the time. We want to, we try to, but at the end of it all we are imperfect. It's no excuse to just let go and say "oh well", but we need to recognize that living the gospel perfectly is the hardest thing on this planet to do. That's why it takes a lifetime (and more) to get good at it. The gospel is always pretty cut and dry, but living it, and watching others living it, isn't. While we need to always try to remain constant in our standards and upholding them, let's cut those around us slack when it seems they aren't living up to theirs.
