Dork's Concert Review

The second installment of Dork's Concert Review will be short (hopefully), and thus to-the-point... the point of a pin! Ha, pulled that off nicely... Ok, not really. (Just insert your own "short joke" here, given who is writing this)
The Pinback concert was a... different experience. Not quite what i was hoping, but still worth going to. First off, I just saw the BEST bass guitar player I have ever seen! They guy was amazing. He played it like a five-string, and like a normal bass. He strummed it, slapped it, picked it, pulled it, and kissed it(um... sure) usually in the same song.
Secondly, the music was great when I knew the songs, but the act wasn't. They played some wierd, and interesting stuff. I only knew like 6 songs out of the 15-20 they played. I really like the songs I know, but the rest, to me, were "eh." They were really straight forward good musicians, with no flair really. The lead reminded me of one of the Cosmans. Really talented, but something is just kinda... off. Amber was tired being the old lady she is, and it being past her bedtime of 10:00, so she was out of it almost.
Thirdly, the Depot is, by far, the nicest concert venue I've been to in SLC, excluding the "real" concert places like Kingsbury, or any of the "tut-tut, his monacle is askew" places. They have restored the old train depot faithfully on the ground level with cool old murals onthe walls, and stained glass windows both showing scenes of the pioneers moving, and settling in the valley. I can very much appreciate that. The actual venue is on the second and third floors of the north wing. It was all brand new, and was setup kinda like DV8 with a bar downstairs and up. We sat right in front of the railing on the mezzanine (super bon bon super bon bon) front and center. It was good, but not great. I guess it's not so short.
OK, I'm done.
